Rationale

At present, there is a demand for the M.A. programme in English Literature because many publication and media houses ask for M.A. as a desired qualification for the candidates. An M.A. degree empowers the student with an in-depth understanding of various forms of writing and literature. Many of the current B.A. (Hons.) English students wish to pursue careers in teaching and research. Since post-graduation is mandatory qualification for teaching at university level in India, the M.A. programme will benefit those who aspire to be university professors. The MA programme shall also act as a bridge to the Ph.D. programme for these students.
