Choosing the right University for a student is one of the most significant milestones, on which a student embarks on his life journey. While this decision is crucial, a student needs to carefully analyse it concerning his goals, values, and career on which he intends to embark. Delhi/NCR has several Higher Educational Institutions, that offer a variety of programs, but very few are multidisciplinary. Following is a stepwise guide that allows you to clear your doubts and aligns you to decide the right University for you. 

1. Identify your career goals: To ensure that you are fully aligned with your career goals, first you should consider the Majors and Programs that are offered by the University. Clarify your academic and career goals. University strengths of running this program are well recognised and have earned laurels from the feedback from their old students

2. Accreditation and Rankings: University accreditations and rankings in various National forums like NAAC and  NIRF  have a great bearing on its reputation and Brand. Therefore students are required to scrutinise this aspect thoroughly before shortlisting the University. Similar International rankings help students to Promote study abroad activities and facilitate the exchange of students. Students intending to study abroad, post their completion of a bachelor’s degree should look for programs that are recognized in their field of interest.

3. Campus Facilities: A university is known or recognized for its campus infrastructure and facilities, such as playfields, Labs, health and counselling services, support centres for the minority group, Professional societies, Co-curricular clubs, etc. The Overall environment is something that helps develop students holistically besides achieving academic excellence.

8. Location: The location of the University should be such that it should be easily accessible and have adequate public transport facilities for the students to commute. Time taken to commute to and fro from the campus as well as the availability of hostel facilities.

9. Campus Safety and Security: The campus should have a foolproof security system and ensure that female students are safe and secure. Finally, you should also evaluate the overall safety of the surrounding neighbourhood.

10. Visit the Campus: One of the best ways to certify what a student reads and research is to make a quick visit to the campus and attend an Open house on the campus. The University should be organising these sessions regularly. Preferably take a campus tour, and see for yourself the facilities and the infrastructure and once you attend you get to know the exact picture and see if that aligns with your aspirations.
