After completing her term as founder Vice Chancellor of Indira Gandhi Delhi Technical University for Women (Govt. of Delhi), Dr. Nupur Prakash is currently serving as Vice Chancellor, The NorthCap University Gurugram since July 2021. Under her leadership The NorthCap university was awarded NAAC ‘A’ grade and QS IGAUGE Diamond badge in the university category. The School of Engineering at NCU was ranked among the top 100 Engineering Institutions twice in NIRF and conferred with QS IGAUGE platinum badge this year. As an academic leader, researcher, and institution builder, she has spent several years holding key leadership positions as HoD (Computer Sc. & Engg), Punjab Engg. College, Chandigarh , Dean Engg & Technology, Dean School of IT at GGS Indraprastha University, and Principal, Indira Gandhi Institute of Technology (established by Govt. of Delhi), Vice Chancellor, Indira Gandhi Delhi Technical University for Women (Govt. of Delhi)

Prof. Nupur Prakash possesses a work experience of around 37 years in teaching, research and administration. She graduated from IIT Roorkee (erstwhile University of Roorkee) with a degree in B.E. (Electronics & Communication Engineering) in 1981 and M.E. (Computer Science & Technology) from IIT Roorkee in 1986. She was awarded with the Chancellor’s Medal for being the best student of the outgoing batch. She holds a PhD degree in Artificial Intelligence from Punjab University, Chandigarh.

Dr. Nupur Prakash has been honoured with the “Inspiring Women Edu-leader” award on International Women’s Day in 2014, by Engineering Watch, “ Outstanding Contribution to Education” at 22nd Devang Mehta Business School Award in 2014, JGBS-Top Rankers Excellence Award for “Women Role Model” in 2015, 8 th Aadhi Abadi Women Achiever’s Award 2016, which recognises women who have contributed in various walks of life as distinguished citizens, “Outstanding Contribution to Higher Education” Award in 2017 and “Life time Achievement Award for promoting girl centric education” on International Women’s day at Vigyan Bhawan in 2018. She has also received “Indira Parikh Award 2022” for being among the top 50 women Education Leader of the Country and conferred with the title of ‘Elite Academician 2022’ by IEEE Industry Applications Society, USA.

She was invited G8 UNESCO forum on “Education, Research and Innovation: New Partnership for Sustainable Development” in Trieste, Italy. She has been an International Consultant to Educational Consultants of India (EdCil), for an Asian Development bank funded Project on ‘ICT in Basic Education’ awarded by Ministry of Education, Govt. of Uzbekistan at Tashkent. She has travelled to Australia, Malaysia, Singapore, Dubai, USA, Tokyo, Italy, New Zealand, Hong Kong, S. Korea, and Beijing for paper presentation and to attend short-term courses, seminars, workshops and conferences. She has been a member of Board of Examiners at the University of Mauritius. Dr. Nupur Prakash has participated in the prestigious US govt. funded program for ‘Women in University Administration’, at the University of Nebraska, Omaha and Lincoln, USA. She attended the ASU-Cintana Experience program in Phoenix in April 2022, Arizona, USA.

She has been actively engaged in accreditation process as Chairperson of various NAAC peer teams and as an expert member of NBA committees. She has been nominated by DST, UGC and Dept. of Electronics & IT under Ministry of IT to several committees of National importance. She has guided 15 PhD scholars in the area of Mobile Computing, Natural Language Processing, Wireless sensor Networks and Artificial Intelligence and published more than 100 research papers and articles in various national and international journals/conferences.
